Maison Jean-Baptiste-Chevalier

historic

The Maison Jean-Baptiste-Chevalier features a heavy stone facade with thick, irregular walls that distinguish it from its neighbors. Built in sixteen seventy-three, it serves as the oldest stone house in the Petit-Champlain district. Jean-Baptiste Chevalier, a merchant, lived here while running his business near the river. When he died in seventeen twenty-two, the property passed through many hands, including private owners and commercial tenants who used the bottom floor for shops while the upper floors remained living quarters.
