Observatoire de la Capitale

The Observatoire de la Capitale occupies the thirty-first floor of the Marie-Guyart Building, the tallest office tower in Quebec City. Its floor-to-ceiling windows offer a three-hundred-sixty-degree view that reveals the precise geometry of the city layout. In the late nineteen sixties, the provincial government commissioned this concrete skyscraper to consolidate dispersed civil service departments. Engineers designed the structure to withstand the harsh Laurentian winters, and the top-floor observatory remains the only public vantage point that encompasses the entire capital region.
