Parliament Building

The Parliament Building displays a distinct Second Empire style, defined by a massive facade of gray limestone and a steep mansard roof. Architects Eugene-Etienne Tache and his successors modeled the structure after the Louvre in Paris, intending to reflect the province's French roots. Tache famously carved the motto Je me souviens, or I remember, into the stone above the main entrance. It remains a guiding principle for the provincial government and a reference to the historical memory of the French-speaking people.
