Square Jean Mermoz

park garden

The Square Jean Mermoz occupies a site that once hummed with heavy industrial activity. Before it became this public garden, the land hosted a freight train station and a factory known as the Rudoid plant. In the nineteen thirties, city officials transformed the space into a park as part of a wider push to replace crowded industrial sites with cleaner, more residential zones. The design features a fountain made of polished granito with a subtle blue tint, a hallmark of the garden architecture from that decade.
