L'hôtel - Trompe l'oeil

landmark

L'hôtel at Parmentier features a massive trompe l'oeil mural that covers its entire facade, transforming a plain building into an optical illusion of grand Parisian architecture. Painted in the late twentieth century, the work depicts ornate balconies, shuttered windows, and figures peering out as if the hotel were a bustling nineteenth-century residence. It replaced a flat, industrial wall with the depth of a classic stone townhome. This mural remains a permanent fixture, masking the structure behind layers of painted light and shadow.
