Centenaire Garden

park garden

The Centenaire Garden sits on the footprint of the old Malakoff slaughterhouse. In the late nineteen eighties, the town dismantled the industrial site to carve out this green space. A series of stone arches remains at the entrance, salvaged from the nineteenth century abattoir structure to frame the new park. Inside the gates, a narrow water channel cuts through the lawn. The garden serves as a quiet center for a neighborhood that shifted from heavy industry to dense residential blocks during the twentieth century.
