L’immeuble - Trompe l'œil

landmark

The building on the corner of the Parc de Neuilly features a facade that confuses the eye. It is painted with a precise trompe l'oeil technique, depicting windows, balconies, and architectural details that appear three-dimensional. When artist Jacques Poirier took on the project in the nineteen eighties, he intended to blend the structure into its surroundings by mimicking the classical aesthetics of the neighborhood. The painted shutters and stone cornices create a convincing illusion of depth on a completely flat exterior wall.
