Bavarian State Chancellery

The Bavarian State Chancellery anchors the park with a massive, glass-fronted rotunda wedged between two historic wings. It serves as the seat of the Bavarian government, housing the office of the state premier. Behind that modern glass facade lies the ruins of the seventeenth-century Army Museum, largely destroyed during the Allied bombing raids of nineteen forty-four. Architects kept the old, damaged dome and flanking porticos, sandwiching the new glass structure between these remnants of the older, war-torn building.
