The Inn of France is a stone building on the Street of the Knights, marked by the prominent carving of the fleur-de-lis above its heavy arched entrance. Built in the fourteenth century, it served as the headquarters for the French knights of the Order of Saint John. These men held Rhodes against Ottoman expansion for two hundred years. Inside, the grand hall still holds the stone crests of the knights who once gathered here to plan the island’s defense.
