Rhodes Medieval Clock Tower

historic

The Roloi Clock Tower sits at the highest point of the Old Town of Rhodes, identifiable by its slender, square stone frame and the iron clock face at the top. It was built in eighteen fifty-one by the Turkish governor Fethi Pasha to keep time for the garrison. During a heavy bombing raid in nineteen forty-four, the tower lost its original crowning structure. It was later rebuilt with the current concrete top that defines its silhouette against the Aegean sky.
