The Eros Cinema stands in Churchgate, marked by its rounded, cream-colored facade and the bold Art Deco lettering stretched across its front. Opened in nineteen thirty-eight, it was designed by architect Sohrabji Bhedwar to anchor the southern end of the Oval Maidan. During the second world war, the theater became a destination for American soldiers stationed in the city, who lined up to watch Hollywood premieres. The structure sits on land reclaimed from the sea, held up by deep concrete foundations.
