Horniman Circle Garden

Horniman Circle Garden occupies a circular plot defined by its sweeping arc of neoclassical buildings and dense, overgrown greenery. Before the nineteen fifties, this space served as the Bombay Green, a commercial center where local merchants weighed cotton on the lawns. When the city leveled the old fortifications, the traders moved out, and the garden took its place. Sir Phirozeshah Mehta, a fierce advocate for municipal reform, championed the park's design to offer residents a quiet space amidst the frantic city.
