The Bombay High Court occupies a massive, dark limestone building defined by its tall, sharp twin towers and rows of gothic arches. Completed in eighteen seventy-eight, the structure was designed by a British engineer named James Fuller. During the construction, a local stonemason famously carved a stone figure of a woman with a lawyer's wig, a detail that still puzzles visitors. It functions as the highest judicial authority for the state of Maharashtra, handling cases that shape the legal landscape of the region.
