Tapi Bawdi

The Tapi Bawdi features an octagonal stone perimeter and a long, descending staircase that disappears deep into the earth. Built in the mid-eighteenth century, this stepwell served as the primary water source for the surrounding community of Bhistiyon Ka Bas. During periods of drought, the city relied on these intricate subterranean reservoirs to survive. Local tradition says the well was commissioned by a wealthy benefactor to ensure his neighborhood never lacked clean water, even when the nearby desert wells ran dry.
