Shri Varah Temple

The Shri Varah Temple sits near the water, marked by a stone image of the boar avatar of Lord Vishnu standing under a carved archway. Maharaja Vijay Singh commissioned this shrine in the late eighteenth century to house the deity, who represents the protection of the earth. Local tradition holds that the king found the stone idol submerged in the nearby lake. Workmen pulled it from the mud and built this temple to provide the relic a permanent home facing the water.
