The Jai Pol stands out with its heavy, iron-spiked wooden doors set deep into a massive stone archway. This gate serves as the primary entrance to the Mehrangarh Fort complex in Jodhpur. Maharaja Man Singh commissioned the gate in eighteen oh eight to commemorate his victory over the armies of Jaipur and Bikaner. Cannonball impacts from those historical sieges still pockmark the stone walls near the entrance, marking the exact spots where the enemy artillery once struck the fort’s defenses.
