Plaza de Armas

park garden

The Plaza de Armas features a raised, open-air bandstand at its center, topped by a distinctive red-tiled roof. While the plaza serves as the social heart of Puerto Vallarta today, it originated in the early twentieth century as a simple square for public assembly. Don Jose Guadalupe Sanchez, the man credited with founding the town, held a vision for this space as a communal living room. Local bands still play here on Thursday and Sunday evenings, filling the square with live music.
