The Boy on the Seahorse

The Boy on the Seahorse stands on a concrete pedestal where the waves of Banderas Bay hit the stone. It is a bronze sculpture of a young boy riding a stylized seahorse, coated in a dark patina that turns greenish from the salt spray. Rafael Zamarripa cast the original in nineteen sixty. The city placed it here to replace the sculpture lost in a storm a year earlier. It became a symbol for the town when the image appeared on the promotional posters.
