Galería Uno

landmark

Galería Uno is defined by the heavy, ornate wooden doors that swing open to reveal a two-story courtyard filled with contemporary Mexican art. Since Janice Chatterton opened these doors in nineteen seventy-one, the space has anchored the local art scene by focusing exclusively on artists from within Mexico. While other galleries chased international trends, Chatterton committed to regional painters and sculptors. That focus transformed the building into a place where collectors gather to find authentic local work rather than mass-produced tourist souvenirs.
