Gringo Gulch

Gringo Gulch rises on the steep hillside above the Cuale River, defined by its dense collection of white stucco villas featuring red tile roofs. This neighborhood gained international attention in nineteen sixty-three when director John Huston arrived to film The Night of the Iguana. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton fell for the hillside, purchasing neighboring houses and connecting them with a pink-arched stone bridge called the Puente del Amor. Locals still watch for the ghosts of the celebrity whirlwind that changed this town.
