The bronze statue of John Huston sits permanently on a stone bench along the Isla Cuale, holding a script in his lap. Huston directed the nineteen sixty-four film The Night of the Iguana here in Puerto Vallarta. The production brought a massive influx of international press to this quiet fishing village, shifting the local economy toward tourism overnight. Local sculptor Carlos Espino cast this likeness to commemorate the man who effectively put this town on the global map for millions of travelers.
