Hacienda San Ángel Gourmet

The Hacienda San Angel Gourmet sits behind a series of high, sun-bleached walls and heavy wooden doors in the El Cerro neighborhood. Richard Burton bought this original property in nineteen seventy-seven as a gift for his wife, Susan Hunt, after filming a movie nearby. He expanded the villa by purchasing neighboring houses, connecting them into a sprawling private estate. The lush gardens and stone archways remain largely as he left them, overlooking the red tile roofs that drop toward the Pacific coast.
