Bryggen Tracteursted

The Bryggen Tracteursted stands out for its low, dark wooden ceiling and the heavy iron stoves that once kept the Hanseatic merchants warm during Bergen's bitter winters. This restaurant occupies one of the original wooden buildings in the historic wharf district, where German traders ran their northern outpost for centuries. In seventeen oh eight, after a massive fire leveled much of the area, the current structure was rebuilt to serve as a meeting hall for the traders, complete with its original cellar storage.
