Norway Fisheries Museum

The Norway Fisheries Museum occupies a collection of weathered, red-painted wooden warehouses that stretch out over the water on the historic Sandviken wharf. These buildings date back to the eighteenth century and served as a central hub for the dried cod trade, connecting Bergen to international markets. In eighteen eighty, a merchant named Joachim Grieg saw the need to document this industry and started the collection. The salt-crusted beams still smell of old fish barrels, reflecting centuries of labor on the coast.
