Skutevikens Smalgang is a narrow, winding alleyway that slices through the dense wooden housing of Bergen. The houses here lean toward each other, their dark timber walls darkened by decades of coastal salt and rain. In the late eighteen hundreds, this passage served as a shortcut for workers hauling heavy barrels of herring from the harbor up toward the steep hillside homes. Today, the uneven cobblestones still hold the deep, worn grooves carved by thousands of iron-rimmed wheels crossing them every single day.
