BHP Hall

BHP Hall is a low, unassuming brick building tucked inside the gates of the former Gdańsk Shipyard. It features a simple gabled roof and wide, industrial windows that once overlooked the noisy, iron-clattering heart of the shipyard. In August nineteen eighty, workers packed into the second-floor conference room to negotiate with the communist government. Lech Wałęsa sat at the head of a long table here, signing an agreement that broke the state's monopoly on labor unions and sparked the Solidarity movement.
