The Dom Schumannów is defined by the ornate, gilded sculptures crowning its stepped gable. This narrow house on Długa Street belonged to a wealthy merchant, Johann Schumann, who bought it in sixteen hundred and forty. His family commissioned the elaborate Dutch-style facade that glitters with stone reliefs representing the virtues. While the house looks like a standard part of the street, it served as a private residence where the Schumann family conducted business and entertained city officials behind a display of immense financial ambition.
