Kamienica z medalionami

The Kamienica z Medalionami, or House with Medallions, stands out for the seven circular stone reliefs embedded directly into its Renaissance facade. These portraits depict figures from the Roman Empire, a common way for wealthy merchants of the sixteen hundreds to signal their education and status. While the rest of the street burned or crumbled during the destruction of nineteen forty-five, this specific wall remained standing. Its survival kept these faces staring out over the Długa Street long after their neighbors vanished.
