Uphagen's House

Uphagen's House features a high, narrow facade topped with an elaborate, curved gable that stands out along the row of houses on Long Street. It served as the private residence of Johann Uphagen, a wealthy merchant who purchased the property in seventeen seventy-five. He spent years meticulously furnishing the interior in the rococo style. When he died, he left strict instructions for his heirs to keep the house exactly as he lived in it, preserving the lifestyle of a patrician family in eighteenth-century Gdańsk.
