Fahrenheita House

The Fahrenheita House in Gdansk stands out for the distinct, narrow silhouette of a classic Dutch-style tenement house, distinguished by its stepped gable overlooking the street. This building marks the birthplace of Daniel Fahrenheit, the physicist who developed the temperature scale used today. In seventeen eighty-six, a fire destroyed much of the original structure, leaving only the lower walls intact. Subsequent reconstructions restored the facade, preserving the connection to the man who first mastered the precision of the mercury thermometer.
