Innbrücke

The Innbrücke is marked by a wide, iron-arched span that carries traffic across the turquoise waters of the Inn River. The bridge serves as the literal namesake of Innsbruck, anchoring the city where it grew around the river crossing in the twelfth century. During the late eighteen hundreds, the engineer Franz von Felbinger replaced the older wooden structures with this iron design. It once featured a toll booth where local merchants paid to haul their goods between the northern and southern trade routes.
