Christuskirche Innsbruck

The Christuskirche features a slender, pointed spire that rises above the surrounding neighborhood, marking it as the oldest Protestant church in Innsbruck. Built in eighteen sixty-one, the congregation needed a place of worship after decades of meeting in private homes. They commissioned architect Heinrich von Ferstel, who designed the building with sharp, neo-Gothic lines. Inside, the original altar painting depicts the resurrected Christ, a piece that the small community managed to preserve even through the city’s many political shifts over the last century.
