Eighth Avenue Place consists of two towers wrapped in a distinctive double-skin glass facade that shifts in color as the sun moves across the Calgary sky. Built on the site of the former Eaton’s department store, the development replaced a massive, windowless retail block that had anchored the street for decades. Architects designed the jagged, crystalline edges to echo the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Construction crews finished the taller east tower in twenty eleven, forever altering the downtown skyline.
