Claire-Martin Library

The Claire-Martin Library occupies a limestone building on Rue Saint-Jean that served as a parish schoolhouse for decades. It features a heavy stone facade with tall, arched windows that reflect the nineteenth-century architecture common in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighborhood. While it functions as a modern branch of the Quebec City library system, the interior retains exposed brick and timber framing from its school days. Generations of local children learned their alphabet within these walls before the building transitioned into a public literary archive.
