La Barberie - Microbrasserie & Restaurant

The brick building on Saint-Vallier Street houses La Barberie, a microbrewery that began in nineteen ninety-seven as a cooperative. Before craft beer became common in Quebec City, the founders pooled their resources to run the business collectively, sharing everything from the brewing equipment to the administrative decisions. It remains a worker-owned collective today. The bar serves as the public face of that arrangement, offering a rotating selection of ales and lagers brewed right on the premises for a changing local crowd.
