Eigtveds Pakhus

The Eigtveds Pakhus stands out for its solid, weathered brick facade and the distinctive red-tiled hip roof that anchors the waterfront. Built in seventeen forty-eight by the architect Nicolai Eigtved, it served as a warehouse for the Asiatic Company during the height of Denmark’s colonial trade with China. While other warehouses crumbled or burned, this structure survived fire and neglect. It now functions as a government conference center, housing international meetings behind walls that once stored crates of tea and porcelain.
