Nyhavn

Nyhavn is the canal lined with colorful, narrow townhouses in bright shades of yellow, blue, and red. Built by King Christian the fifth in the sixteen hundreds, it served as a bustling commercial port for cargo ships. Sailors brought spices, beer, and wine here from around the world. Hans Christian Andersen lived at number twenty for nearly two decades, writing some of his famous fairy tales while staring out at the masts of the ships tied up along the quay.
