Wehrmacht Graffiti

A cluster of faint, hand-painted German inscriptions sits near the ground on the brick base of a Copenhagen warehouse. During the nineteen forties, soldiers from the occupying Wehrmacht forces painted these markings to designate specific logistics units or storage zones within the harbor area. They remain today because city officials chose to preserve them as raw, unvarnished evidence of the occupation. Many people walk past without noticing the faded letters, which mark the spot where foreign soldiers once managed the city’s supplies.
