Parc du Vieux cimetière

park garden

The stone walls of the Parc du Vieux cimetière enclose a space that once held the dead of Courbevoie. Before the town grew into a dense suburb of Paris, this ground served as the municipal cemetery from eighteen hundred and twelve until the mid-nineteenth century. When the graves were relocated to the new cemetery, the town repurposed the site into a public garden. A few scattered headstones remain, half-hidden among the trees, marking the transition from a place of rest to a park.
