Rucher du Talus

The Rucher du Talus, or Embankment Apiary, sits along the Boulevard Garibaldi and serves as a vital anchor for the urban biodiversity program in Issy-les-Moulineaux. This specific site gained national recognition when the city secured second place in the Villes de Miel competition, a contest honoring municipalities that prioritize ecological preservation and the protection of bees. The honey produced here is a delicate all-flower variety, drawing its distinct flavor profile from the nectar of local linden trees, thistles, and brambles that grow in the surrounding environment. Beyond honey production, the embankment serves an unusual double duty by hosting sheep that graze the area, helping to maintain the landscape through natural means rather than mechanical mowing.
