Jardin de la Cour d'Honneur / Roseraie

park garden

The Jardin de la Cour d'Honneur is defined by a dense arrangement of rose bushes laid out in precise, geometric patterns behind the walls of the Corentin Celton Hospital. This land once held the Hospice des Incurables, established in the seventeenth century for people the state had abandoned. When doctors paved over the old courtyards to expand the wards, they saved this rectangular patch to provide a reprieve from the clinical environment. Staff members still spend their lunch breaks walking the narrow gravel paths.
