The Jardin des Mille Roses stands on grounds that served for over a century as a sanctuary for the elderly and infirm. This space originated in the mid-nineteenth century when an urban hospice relocated from Paris to the quieter outskirts of Issy-les-Moulineaux. The transition from a closed medical courtyard to a public garden took place during the nineteen-nineties, intended to offer a shared space of tranquility for both hospital patients and local residents.
