Gedonstraße 4

The heavy, carved oak entrance door at Gedonstraße four stands out for its ornate, late-nineteenth-century floral wood carvings that snake around the frame. This building, completed in eighteen ninety-four, was designed by the architect Heilmann and Littmann. It serves as a quiet example of the Munich historicism movement that defined this neighborhood during the era of the Prinzregenten. Inside, the original staircases still feature the intricate, decorative iron railings that were standard for homes of the prosperous bourgeoisie at the time.
