Rhine Tower

The Rhine Tower rises two hundred forty meters above the harbor, identifiable by the ring of lights wrapped around its concrete shaft. This tower functions as a giant decimal clock, displaying the current time through clusters of illuminated portholes. In nineteen eighty-one, the city completed this structure to support telecommunications antennas and provide a public observation deck. Harald Deilmann designed the tapered form to withstand the wind, leaving behind a narrow, needle-like silhouette that dominates the skyline of the Düsseldorf harbor area.
