Neuer Zollhof

The Neuer Zollhof features three distinct, leaning towers with facades of white plaster, red brick, and shimmering stainless steel that reflect the distorted images of the buildings next to them. Architect Frank Gehry designed these structures in nineteen ninety-eight to replace the old customs harbor warehouses. One local story recalls how the construction workers had to use specialized computer-aided design software for the first time to figure out the exact angles for the curved, metallic surfaces that define the skyline today.
