The Living Bridge spans the narrow inlet of the Düsseldorf harbor with a bright, asymmetrical yellow steel frame. It serves as a permanent pedestrian connection between the industrial docks and the modern office buildings of the MedienHafen. When the bridge opened in nineteen ninety-seven, the architect wanted a structure that felt like it was constantly shifting. The steel cables and exposed support beams create a chaotic geometry that looks entirely different depending on the angle of the sun.
