Bapu Bazaar Shopping Street, Udaipur

Bapu Bazaar is defined by the dense, uneven rows of narrow storefronts draped in bright, embroidered textiles and strings of marigolds. This street acts as the commercial spine of the Old City, built to serve the daily needs of Udaipur residents rather than the tourists who congregate nearby. In nineteen seventy-four, a local merchant named Mohan Lal began selling hand-block printed fabrics here, a craft that quickly became the standard for every shopkeeper on the block to follow.
