Pipli ghat

landmark

Pipli ghat is a stone stairway descending directly into the dark, still water of Lake Pichola. These wide steps, worn smooth by centuries of foot traffic, connect the dense maze of the Old City to the lake surface. Local legend says that when the water level rises, these stairs become the primary stage for city life, as residents gather here to wash clothes, bathe, or simply sit as the sun sets behind the western hills.
