Amba Pol Gate

The Amba Pol Gate stands as a heavy, arched stone entrance set into the remnants of Udaipur’s old city wall. Its weathered masonry features a distinct pointed archway that once served as a primary western checkpoint for the city. Local tradition claims that when the Maharana Udai Singh the second established his capital here, this gate provided the vital passage to the temple of the mother goddess, Ambamata. It marked the boundary where travelers left the rugged countryside to enter the royal city.
