Gangaur Ghat

Gangaur Ghat features a massive stone staircase descending directly into the dark, calm waters of Lake Pichola. Built by the kings of Mewar in the eighteenth century, the site served as the primary landing for the royal family during the Gangaur festival. Women of the palace brought carved wooden idols here to submerge them, honoring the goddess Gauri. Today, the steps remain a public space where local residents gather at dawn to wash clothes or chat while the morning mist lifts off the lake.
